By purchasing our dried pineapple you are making more of an impact than you may think! The story behind these snack pouches: It all began with Jackie Atim, a young graduate agronomist, who shared the idea of this project with a group of widowed Grandmas near Luwero, Uganda. The grandmas are the caregivers and the heads of their families, often with a household full of grandchildren and adopted children after poverty and disease in rural Africa has created a generational gap. With Grandmas Gardens we provide tools, seeds, land, education (with guidance from Jackie to help maximise yields), and food processing training for an impoverished community in need of sustainable, self-sufficient incomes. Now, the grandmas have crops ready to harvest and sell fresh on the market.
